I just wondered how big companies are managing PAT testing when the workforce is mainly wokring from home (logistically and environmentally friendly considerations required) At the moment laptops and cables are being replaced every 4 years due to data/security but I wondered how hybrid UK companies are managing the other items that may need PAT testing. do you ask employees to come into an office space / or is there another way ?

This has been discussed in the past so a forum search may provide some answers. We rely on visual checks and guidance so that staff can raise concerns. Most staff are not moving their equipment (no need to bring leads into the office) so risks are lower.

Most office type equipment dosen't need PAT testing. A simple (recorded) visual check of the cable every couple of years is sufficient. The way to achieve compliance, with the minimum impact on operations is to simply undertake the basic recommendations provided by the HSE for office equipment, rather than imposing a frankly pointless requirement for PAT testing and then scratch your head about how to achieve it for hybrid workers. Hope it helps, Tony.

Bear in mind also Sarah that the HSE dont do anything other than an unrecorded visual inspection of their own office equipment. I think its stated on the web page guidance.
