I am looking for information on the safety requirements for using high-pressure water jet cleaning equipment. Our company uses contractors for this activity quite often and I would be interested to know if there is any ACOP or specific regulation that they/we should be complying with.

Jim, if you search this forum and maybe the old one too, you will find answers from when a similar topic was posted before.

Hi Jim

Might be able to help you, I am the safety officer for my Company and deal with all the H/P Jetting that we are involved in.

We have just completed a contract that involved decontamination of low scale activity of radioactive steel.

YES! The H/P Water Jetting Assc. have an ACOP
albeit Voluntary, however this is backed up by the HSE.

Feel free to e-mail me personally for more info if required.

Hi Jim, Hope you don't mind

Steve, could not reply to you directly your e-mail address being hidden.

Tried to find the H/P Water Jet Assoc. No luck.

Any info? WWW? Tel etc

Also, is the ACOP free/digital.

Thanks and regards

Andy.

Try this link:

http://www.waterjetting.org.uk/

There is some safety info as well as some codes of practice that you can print off.

If you need any further info please e-mail me as I used to be a contractor working with high pressure water (appx 3,500 psi at 12 gallon a minute).

Try http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg68.pdf

Its off the HSE site, I haven't looked at it but it may help. (Under work equipment in the hazards list)

Hi Jim-Andy

SORRY ABOUT NOT MAKING E-MAIL AVAILABLE

sbooth@ntlworld.com

I have experience in 3,500Psi Hot/Wash units-
30,000 Psi units.

Both sets of safe systems of work need to be addressed differently due to the hazard risks
being vast.
